Hello! My name is Alex Michels and I am a songwriter, composer, and producer. I've been interested in writing songs since before I could play an instrument, but I officially began taking piano lessons in 3rd grade. Trumpet and guitar followed shortly after in 5th grade. Throughout my life, music has been a very important outlet that has carried me through many times of transition. In Spring 2020, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle with my degree in trumpet and music composition. I have been teaching remote music lessons ever since! In my young musical journey, I have had the joy of performing in rock bands, jazz combos/big bands, orchestras, latin ensembles, guitar ensembles, African drumming ensembles, chamber ensembles, Gamelan ensembles, and the Seattle Chinese Orchestra. I believe in a holistic approach to teaching which draws from a range of influences and expands upon the student's musical and artistic interests. I love to teach all ages and skill levels lessons in trumpet, piano, guitar, songwriting, composing, theory, and producing. I embrace all genres and am happy to teach anything of interest to my students. Lessons can be focused on a specific instrument or subject or be more geared toward general musical exposure.
